couldnt find em just two overseas players and a ruck load of academy kids and local lads...
crikey I hope Our under 20's are still top of the league while we are playing all that lot in our first team..........

Currie never played for Wigan's academy. He played for Wigan's Service Area in the same way that certain Wigan Academy products played for other service areas.

Currie played for Wigan on the scholarship scheme (i.e. under 15-16's) so you can't class him as a Wigan academy player.
It's the same as Ryan Hampshire, who played for Hull on scholarship but then joined Wigan.

My mistake then, although a weakened team will naturally contain more Academy products as the likes of Hodgson/Briers/Morley are rested. Good to see things changing at Wire though.
