| Quote Warrington Wolf="Warrington Wolf"Enough of the friendly stuff now time for debate. Warrington average? What does that make you? In the last 10 mins we were the ones pushing forward. Lets also not forget it wasn't as if you've just plucked this team out following injuries from the last round of games. Wigan like Warrington had almost two weeks to prep for that game. Your lads have been turning teams over for fun.
Just accept it was a great game and could have gone either way. Better than to be bitter and look for the negatives in the opposition. You had loads of ball and couldn't break the defensive line. Had you have played Other teams tonight you would have scored a hat full.'"
Your right it was a great game and your defensive line was top drawer but we gave you a lot of penalties which didnt help our cause, but to be leading with a few minutes to go im defintiley not worried in the slightest about Warrington come the challenge cup or the playoffs. For me there is only one team winning everything this year and thats Wigan! The depth in our squad is fantastic it has to be said weve put 60 and 80 passed teams with a bunch of young kids playing, but on the other hand when Warrington have put out their kids against the likes of Widnes or HKR you have lost! Our biggest challenge this year will come from Huddersfield. Deep down Tony Smith was concerned and Dissapointed last night and i think you know it too!! :

| Brilliant game. Had it been Leeds playing that well under similar circumstances I'd be feeling far more positive after the game than I did before it, despite the loss.

Yes, average. You're attack wasn't really up to scratch, lots of dropped ball. If your attack was up to scratch you would have scorched us in that first half but our defence was up to it and went in at half time only 10-0 down. Which was a massive positive considering how much ball we wasted. In the last ten minutes you were dominating, but where were you in the other 30? the young lads running a nearly full strength Warrington side ragged. I'm not being bitter? How am I being bitter? I'm saying what I saw.
I am so pleased with the effort our team showed. With so many key players out in our one man side I thought the enthusiasm and effort the lads showed was outstanding but the skill level wasnt quite there. Errors and inexperience caught up to us.

| I can see where a lot of Wigan fans are coming from by quite rightly taking the positives out of the outstanding performance of that young side and hypothetically turning it into a win with the insertion of another three, four or five fit players – it seems like the logical thing to do, and is fair enough.
However, the fact remains that when Wigan and Warrington meet these days, one side hardly ever wins. Wigan usually reserve a very shoddy performance for their clashes against Warrington (much to the ire of you lot on here), but yesterday you produced a magnificent performance, which was still not quite enough.
Let’s make no bones about it, Wigan could win both trophies this season, beating Warrington en route, but just as plausibly, the two sides could meet in a play-off match or a final and if Wigan have a one-off bad day at the office, they will continue to lose to Warrington every time, fully-fit or not. That’s because Warrington – Dad’s Army or not – will always raise their game for Wigan, and for all his enthusiasm and great rugby, Wane is not as smart a coach as Smith.
I’m pleased that you’re all so positive about your prospects of beating Warrington should we meet later this year, but I’m sure you’ll understand that Warrington fans still feel incredibly confident about beating any Wigan side, every time we play you.
It was a great game last night. Let’s have it again later in the year.

And Warrington could go into the play-offs with a load of injuries with Wigan at full strength and lose to Wigan. Such is the nature of knock out competitions. What would you say then?

To be honest I am none the wiser. It was a great performance from Wigan given who we had available but that doesn't really tell me how our 1st team would play against you. In that sense it was disappointing we could not field our first team because there are not many really good sides to test either team. However I can speculate that with a bit more experience in the side the game was there for the winning and you must see that also as past results don't count for much except bragging rights.

You make some good points but i feel the need to defend Shaun Wane, i dont think Tony Smith is a better coach whatsoever, if he'd have been a bit smarter last night you could have put a boat load passed us but the fact remains he opted for a top heavy pack and bench to try and win the game up the middle but you have strick players all over th park and if you had been a bit smarter out wide you would have scored more tries fact is you didn't he's not as smart as you make out! Wane's policies and training methods this year and his sheer love and enthusiasm for the club are why we are top of the league and 4 points clear of you, granted he's and old fashioned taskmaster but when we went in at halftime 10-0 down and came back out to lead 12-10, who do you think orchestrated the tempo increase??? Ok we ran out of steam in the end, i can take that but it was down to circumstances which we could not avoid, no coach can prepare for that, well see soon enough anyway i just hope we have a full strength team come the business end and well run away with it.

| A derby game will bring the best out of everyone, if you don't think those kids raised their game for this you'd be daft, they may be new but they understand what games like this mean to the fans.
We used to have your measure back in the day when your squad was probably the best in the world not just the UK.

Different point, the player you missed most out of those injured for me would be SOL, i still think overall he's more important in the side than Tomkins, a complete Forward.

I'm Wigan through and through but Tony Smith is a better coach than Shaun Wane. I think we would be absolute world-beaters with him at the helm

Have to agree with Yed (and not just because he's a wire fan!)
Last nights game was one of the best I've seen in a long time, non stop for 80 mins and a great advert for the game.
The main thing I took from it was why is there this big thing for getting players from Oz with the talent all the English lads showed last night,
Powell, Crosby Tomkins (L) etc from you lot and Hill, Currie, Ratchford etc from us
These are the games Mc Banana should be sitting up and taking notice of not picking the "same old" in his sleep
Both sets of fans should be happy with performances last night and two teams that deserve a final!

But the best hooker on the pitch was Mickey Higham does Steve Mc pick him for the world cup because he performed superbly or do you want him pick Logan Tomkins just because his young and never looked out of place ?
You cant have it both ways

Didn't say that the whole England squad should come from the game last night, my point was that there are some superb English youngsters coming through that the national game should be doing something with, maybe that way less will think the only way to get into the England team is to play down under,
Too late for World Cup but from 2014 we should be looking at getting at these lads out to play a few international "friendlies"
Correct me if I'm wrong but was there not a mention of a First Team v The Knights, maybe worth a look at for a pre-season or a tri-series with Exiles?
