Did the game stop when Charnley caught Flynn with the elbow in the first half?

Didn't see what happened in that incident.... But wasn't Flynn already off the pitch?........

| Quote Redchemic="Redchemic"Whilst all this whining is going on, is Goulding ok?
By the same count, the game should've stopped after Luaki flattened Cahill off the ball and left him struggling to breathe and spitting blood. He should've been put on report there and then and maybe he wouldn't have smashed another 2 Widnes players around the same time.

If I'm honest, Wigan are one of my 'pet sides' but they were putting a lot of cheap stuff about today'"
The incidents you refer to will be looked at and dealt with. However we are still trying to find the official ruling on the head injury. The game was stopped in the HKR v Bradford game on Saturday for something that appeared far less serious and Widnes did score in the position that Goulding would have been defending.
There was NO doubt that Goulding was unconscious.

| Think of it this way... Wigan have made a lot of people very happy today, and that cant be a bad thing.

As ive said when Goulding went down flynn had broken through run 60 meters up field.
So bye then the play was up the other end of the ipitch.
With every other player including the ref, exept Goulding.
Think the ref was just running with the flynn break.
His life was not in danger and your medical staff was on by then anyway wernt they
Its nothing to do with us scoring a try of the back of that run is it why you are all moaning about that injury
And you wanted the game stopping and bringing back 60 meters,i mean its not like the was players running past the lad else it would have been stopped.
Is he ok by the way

Yes, Paddy was off the pitch but the game didn't stop and it was a head injury which appeared to be caused by Charnley's elbow (it could have been a mistimed hand off) so we were down until Paddy had been treated.

Can't see anything being reviewed TBH as Luaki was spoken to but he was out to do somebody.
I've had one or two celebratory shandy's since the game so can't remember if you scored when Cahill was struggling after Luaki hit him but what I suppose I'm getting at is if you stop the game for a head injury, then you stop it for all head injuries. Cahill looked in pretty bad way for a spell after the incident and could've been more seriously hurt if you'd chosen to take the game to him while he was struggling - hence stopping the game for treatment to all head injuries.

No the game should have been stopped where Flynn played the ball/ was tackled. At that point there were two Wigan players with head injuries (Goulding and Hansen?)
What we are trying to find out is the EXACT ruling regarding head injuries (the officials are miked up, so the I didn't know should be ruled out)
I've said on another thread that if the rule is play on then o.k. but I think it needs looking at. The game HKR v Bradford on Saturday was stopped for a far less serious looking incident, wouldn't you agree?

| Quote Katrina="Katrina"My main point being that ALL games should have video referees, or none at all because of these blatant inconsistencies! When a game is televised, the refs use the big screen for almost every try these days scrutinising absolutely everything looking for any reason to disallow the try. Then you get games like today, a blatant obstruction and two blatant knock ons. Had there been a video ref, then they would not have stood. It's a massive flaw, one that has been doing my head in for years. Especially when every single home game Catalans played in the past had a video ref as every home game of theirs was televised... As I said, it should be every game, or none at all.'"
Whilst I agree in principle, it's no use crying about it. It's not gonna happen any time soon. I'm pretty sure one of your tries was dubious as a Widnes player was obstructed when Finch, I think, made a break on the halfway line.
Anyway, it all adds up the reason why this is TGG .

Fair enough guess theres arguments for both sides.
I just thought it all happend so quick that Goulding injury was missed by the ref at the time of the break.
Still cant bellive we won,my 8 year ols son is in over the moon.
Is goulding ok ?

I already gave it. As far as the rule book goes, there isn't one. As far as Cummings directives to his staff goes, well god only knows, because they don't get published, only for when Eddie tells us refs have been told to pay special attention to this, that or the other.

Fairly sure in that case the player was lying prone in an area much too close to the 'active play', and thus deemed to be in danger of further accidental injury from the ball ending up in that general area.

Just so that we're absolutely clear on this - and you saying that not a single one of the Wigan scores had even a morsel of doubt over their eligibility? Every single play in the build up to a Wigan score was completely above board and had absolutely nothing that could have seen them ruled out?
