It's the protection of Sam the refs need to be looking out for.It's the little bit of afters the players are putting in after the tackle is made.

Sam like many top players draw attention and Wane needs to consider this before spouting off. Wigan have had more than their fair share of hard men . You say Saints fans have short memory's. Well I remember one terry Newton (rip) dolling out some pretty tough justice to one mr. Long . And your mr. Hock,s no choir boy. We all want our players protected not just Wigan.

Yeah, but Wane's point is that players are not getting punished for fouls on Sam, unlike Newton and Hock who (rightly) got lengthy bans for their offences.

As a fan of Warrington and Rugby League I have alot of respect for Wane as a coach as there's no denying he's doing a great job at Wigan so far. But coming out in the press and calling for a specific player to be protected because he's being targeted is just embarrassing to our sport.



So some French player caught Tomkins high in a game. Wane complains to the RL, they tell him to nicely go away so he uses the press to get back at them. You'd expect this sort of rubbish from the likes of Gary Schofield but not from the coach at one of the leagues top clubs.



Wane should just go the whole hog and change his name to Rafa and start spouting 'facts.'

When I listened to SW all I heard him say was that Tomkins should not be tackle outside of the rules of the game, (My interpretation of his words) not that he should have any special treatment just for him. Whatever any Wigan player, or any other player, in the past or today did, or does has nothing to do with what he said. I didn’t hear him say that the rules of the game should only apply to Sam. No player should run the risk of having his career ended by foul play, and that’s all he was saying. Those who think that it’s a “game for hard men” and he should take what’s given, as just a part of the game. Would they be of the same opinion if it was them who were set for a life in a wheelchair?
