Can anyone bring me up to date with what is happening with our planning application? I have been working away with very limited internet access so not been able to keep up to date.

SOS defered the decision about 2 weeks back, an actual decision is due any time, but hopefully sooner rather than later.

Thats a good question, they say no news is good news but its been long enough now

Was in shop saturday and they said they were expecting a decision on the 9th/10th december

Serious point - but we are encouraged by the delay.

I saw on the news yesterday that the government had announced no PI in relation to a massive development (believe it was on Liverpool waterfront). I know the circumstances are different, but surely if a project of that size is not going to PI, it has to be seen as a positive for NM chances?

according to Ralph Rimmer it's still one up and one down so this needs to be sorted asap. All three clubs have applied before deadline.

Have a read of the Wakefield Express, there's a good article regarding the councils involvement in social issues regarding health.

This is another case of the Con-Dem's moving issues away from central government and finding another body (whether that be the private sector or local authorities) to push them onto & ultimately expect to pick up the bill.



While on a political level my opinions stand in contrast to this I believe it's plain as day to see how this forms part of a larger political direction we are on, one that is in my opinion is actually beneficial to our aims & in the long run maybe much better than the old system of New Labour.



The article ends by saying that this is not a move away from the "nanny state" (yeah right) but a move toward trust and responsibility being placed with those best informed- local officials.



Put it this way I believe that if we were in this position 12 months ago we would have a PI nailed on. However this delay is all about weighing up the facts- this shouldn't scare us one bit.



As nervous as I am we are in the right & I believe we will have the backing of those in charge in the not too distant future.

I hope they get the finger out soon....

How does that work then, if it goes on much longer it'll be next year.

The longer they keep it (in theory) the more detailed the viewing of the application, which benefits us in a great many respects. Our case for a community stadium is sound & has the backing of the LA, the location has been proven in a great many studies (some by YK others by WMDC) and has the backing of the LA, the need for employment has been proven by the LA & central gov and again has the backing of the LA.



Where as our opponents claims and arguments.... Well we all saw how thin they were on the 22nd of Oct.



A wait may be frustrating but it will do us good in the long run, this way there can never be any counter claims by opponents as everything will have been gone through with a fine tooth comb now. If we get the nod now that's it, no if's, no but's. You could even think of this as a mini PI.- Which judging on the stance of the LA and the willingness to spend will be as much of a PI as we get.



Applications with the support of the LA are less likely to be pulled in anyway but this fits now more than ever in the days of "localism". But we can't take anything for granted being Trinity fans.



FWIW I still think we will get what we all want for Xmas.

We are disappointed and frustrated by the delay, but we believe the delay itself may suggest a positive outcome.



It's all guesswork though, based on knowledge from other schemes and from talking to people who know these things better than we do.
