Before Super League it was just one of those fixtures you enjoyed. Now it's taken on a significance it doesn't deserve. At the moment, I'd be much happier if we beat Huddersfield. Leeds will always be the big game, though.

i think it depends where you are from. being stuck in the middle beating cas means everything to the normy fans.

If we finish first I am happy for Cas to be second, if we finish 12th I would want Cas to be 13th. Cas are important to us and I would suggest we are importanmt to Cas. It's always one of the best attendances of the season. But to answer the question it's the difference between a happy Monday and a depressed one.

I would guess that most Wakefield fans couldn't care less about beating Cas any more than beating any other side in SL. The two points and performance is all that matters. The derby just adds flavour. I think that Wakefield fans have more pressing concerns in the immediacy though.

I must have missed the 1996 and 1997 seasons when Wakefield were in NL1 ala Northern Ford Premiership or whatever it was called back then. If my math is correct, that means you've spent just as much time outside of SL as we have.
