Lancaster City 1 Wakefield 2
Wakefield picked up their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory at fellow Division One North side Lancaster in The FA Trophy.
New goalkeeper Sam Dobbs made his Wakefield debut, with Danny Trueman starting on the bench. The injured Tom Marsden was replaced in the starting eleven by Shequille Clarke. There was a also a start for R
yan Grant at centre back, with Micah Bleau pushing into midfield.
Wakefield went into the lead within the opening five minutes, when Lee Turner's curling shot nestled into the far corner.
The Bears had further chances to score, but could not capitalise after some good approach play, and were punished on the stroke of half time when Lancaster's Dodwell headed in the equaliser.
The home side hit the bar twice in the second half with headed efforts, but it was Wakefield who found the winning goal deep into stoppage time. A free kick into the Lancaster box was eventually fired goalwards by Bleau, with Dave Boardman getting the last touch on the line to claim his first Wakefield FC goal.
It was a well earned victory for Wakefield, from a game that didn't finish until after 6pm, following a delayed kick off due to traffic problems on the M6.
