That's kind of how a lottery works though isn't it; people buy tickets based on the chance of winning a prize, the receipts from tickets vastly outweighs the value of prizes therefore the prize money is, I guess, the opportunity cost of generating around £1400 p/week in profit.



The money can't buy type prize I agree with - to some people, that would be very attractive.

Approximately £1400 per week? From my back-of-a-fag-packet reckoning, that comes out at about 700 fans paying into the lottery. That is less that the hardcore attending in the darkest days of pre-SL, even allowing for families etc where one person pays in. Set that against 4,000+ taking advantage of cheap season tickets.



It is up to the individual as to whether you view that as taking advantage in the sense you'd do for any product, or taking advantage in a way that undermines the very thing you support, which isn't your typical purchase. Either way though, the business brains behind it doesn't seem so sparkling after the gaping hole in the finances has been revealed.

Think that figure is profit - not revenue

I can't imagine the revenue figures account for that many more paying in, it was hardly something that people signed up for expecting payouts to be close to 100%, and as the lottery manager has appeared to suggest on another thread that they've not followed up when a continuous card payment has meant someone lapsed, I'd be suprised to hear it was heavily staffed.

I have won the jackpot of £250 which went toward my £350 Season Ticket price for this year & have won a meal voucher for Kashmiri Lounge (Daughter nicked that one).

I havent won anything since and my hubby has won nothing.
