| Lets not get away from the facts before he went to the other code most clubs would have jumped at the chance of him.Hes still only 25 so has plenty of years left and came on a months loan and now has put pen to paper on a permanent deal so must have impressed behind the scenes.

| Even if at half the form he has shown at the Rhinos he would still stroll into the starting line up before Mellars, who has been one of the most disappointing players this season. Maybe we should use Mellars on the wing and try Cockayne somewhere else, fullback ?

| Good signing for you guys. Young, british and as someone else stated - comes with a good pedigree and background. Would have liked him at Cas Tigers. Could see Mellars leaving though.

| Lee Smith a niggly player who can milk a few penalties just what we want IMHO like others have said a couple of years ago regardless of his form we would have had no chance of signing a player like this unless he was 35!
Hes been out of the running at Leeds and probably unsettled coming to the end of his contract if we have offered him a 1 year deal to see how he goes then thats good business, if he doesnt produce the goods then bye but if he gets into form again then we will no doubt have to pay the going rate.
Shrewd business this signing I think. This is clearly stengthening the team and adding competition to the squad I am sure everyone would want that.

| Cant understand why so many are having a go here.
The only thing he was guilty of last week was trying too hard, lets face it most of the tries that we conceeded were down the other side, where we had Kirmo in the centre spot.
Should be an improvement in what we have and is unlikely to get homesick !

| Hope he turns out as good a signing as Freddie Smith, Mark Conway, Andy Mason and other so called Leeds cast offs we have had in the past.

| This is a good signing in my opinion. One game isn't enough to judge him.
I think he'll turn out to be great for us.

| I don't know what some people are moaning at, he is young British and has a proven track record in Super League.
Obviously we have no idea how he will perform but on paper I think he is a very good signing.

| Kick Mathers out hes the most over rated full back to pull on the shirt at wakefield. Smith can provide very good cover.

| Ignoring his awful debut for us, this could be a decent signing; proven quality, good utility value and just enough dog in him to inspire the players around him.
I'll judge it when he takes the field in 2013, after he's used the off-season to shed a few pounds and sharpen up his game.

| Just to wet your appetites of what he is capable of just take a look on youtube the GFs 2007-08-09,and especially 2008, that 40-20 probably won Leeds the game
