| Really pleased with the news and don't want to put a damper on things, but I won't be getting too carried away until the diggers are in!!
All we have is paper at the moment. We now need the units to sell for the stadium to be built but I'm guessing some deals may have already been done????

It would be very surprising if YCP haven't been beavering away in the background doing just that.
I think that the detail of the SoS's decision is actually very positive for us; it requires the developer and the Council to sign off a binding s106 agreement with respect to delivery of the stadium, so that will give a clear indication of timescales and such.
You're right to be cautious, but we've certainly cleared a massive hurdle.

| Talking to a guy who reckoned it would cost circa £20 million to build a 12000 seater to a decent standard. Which begs the question in these financially straitened times.....who exactly is going to cough up that money?
The developers [url=http://companycheck.co.uk/company/02056198Yorkcourt[/url don't appear to be exactly rolling in it, and are already late in posting figures for 2012..... A private finance company maybe, who can see an opportunity? .....will Glover be sticking his hand in his pocket?
Obtaining Full Planning Permission might have been the easy part of the equation. Obtaining a suitable financial package could be a tad more challenging.

I think if you dont want the mickey taking out of you mickey, you probably ought to save your rantings for your own forum?
It is a community stadium, and as part of the community you are welcome to use it, if not that is fine.
Hope that helps.

Spot on Bren!
Despite certain posters claiming otherwise, this is exactly what everyone wanted and we welcome the SoS asking for the S106 and other issues relating to the stadium/community sports facilities to be resolved and sorted once & for all, prior to final permission being given.
Equally, we have no doubts about Yorkcourt & WMDC sorting all this out by the deadline and fulfilling the SoS requests.

Well firstly, the figure for this one is £19m, so I am sure even you will not argue over a £1m.
As for who is going to cough up the cash, well the same people that were always going to be paying... but possibly maybe some companies that have remained in the background a little until now.
I wouldn't worry about Yorkcourt accounts too much, because they are reasonably irrelevant. They, like most developers, won't be spending their own money but will be spending it on behalf of other investors and those investors will be getting a favourable return and Yorkcourt (& others!) will take their profit cut as well.
That all said, a large slice of the money was never coming from the developer but from other sources, such as Sport England and of course now Wakefield College.
There is indeed still plenty of work to do to access identified funding, no doubt, but in September I think exactly what the developers contribution is going to be and how that is condition will be know and equally, we might find that new names & companies pop -up & join the party as partners!

| Circa (from Latin, meaning "around"icon_wink.gif......
So, how much is Sport England putting up then, and is there any chance that Garry H could get some funding for our Southstand revamp, which has all gone very quiet?
Assuming everything falls into place, would you be expecting a build time of around a year for most of the project?

Elston on yesterday's news:
viewtopic.php?f=33&t=526267&tsmp=1340366631
He expects it will be up to 12 months before the build can realistically take place with a 56 week build, which fits in with their 2015 target date.
