You're certainly on a roll. Just because Toppo was around for a 1000 years doesn't mean you can invoke his name to denigrate another player. The sad story regarding Wrights injury ravaged career is well known where as Toppo was pretty much iindestructible (even in a car) so the comparison is unfair.



What is fair is to say that as a 18-19 year old Wright most certainly was world class for that point in his career. Would he have gone onto match Toppo if he had steered clear of injury. I don't know and neither do you so why knock him.

World class is an overused word in RL and football sorry Wright was never world class good yes potential to be world class yes but sadly we will never know due to his injuries

As ever you miss the point. I said he was world class at the age of 19 for a 19 year old. that's all anyone has ever said. This obsession you have with no one being able to lace the boots of Toppo is tiresome. It looks especially daft when consider that Toppo (his coach and mentor) is on record as saying he is a world class youngster - what is your problem.



I agree the term "world class" and " legend" is bandied about far to much on here. They are rare, especially at a club that has won feck all in 40 years. However all clubs produce the odd few including us.



In the last 20 years we have produced two IMO world class players as opposed to good players of which we have produced many. Ellis and Wright are the two, that's hardly excessive boasting is it.

Am I correct in saying that Ellis didn't start with us? I think he started with the Whinos as a junior to where he went back?

AFAIK he started with us, it definitely wasn't with Leeds.



He may have played some Junior rugby in Cas though.

No, he played in the Cas junior leagues.



For me I think the valid start date for a player to be home grown is when they play/sign for the junior Academy.



Anything before that ie development teams etc deserves recognition but doesn't count as producing the player IMHO.
