| Quote RebelRebel="RebelRebel"Says a lot about Richard Agar to me, does this. Collis signed an extension, Annakin signed an extension, Kirmond says he wants to stay and hints at a new deal, and Cockayne is said to be happy at Wakey. The fans may have their doubts, but a lot of the players seem to like him, and I'm sure it's not because they get an easy ride.
I hope Danny does stay. He was good for us during his first stint and has matured into a really fine player in his second. It's not all one way traffic with Huddersfield.

No its not, Raliegh has also been a fine signing and has hit form in his last two games.

| The thing with a three year contract is in effect it is only an 18 month to two year contract if you wish to keep a player. Lots of players are poached, released or looking elsewhere long before the term of their contract expires.
Without doubt a big contract is a risk for a club like ours, however I'd say if we can afford it and he (DK) would accept it; id give him a five year deal.
If he is to be our captain going forward and i see no reason why not it would be a shot accross the bows to other SL and NRL clubs that we want to retain our top players, and not only is Danny a top player here, he would be a top player anywhere.

Quite right , Raleigh is looking like the 2012 version again.
I think as a whole we have about the most dominant go forward pack in SL and that can only be improved with the likes of the big new fella (i cant even begin to get his name right so i wont bother trying; TT will have to do for now) when he returns from injury.

I know what you mean, I did mean a real 3 year deal after this one expires.

Agree on this, Danny wants to and enjoys playing for Wakefield. Since he has been given captaincy he has grown into a quality player that probably all the teams in Super League would have him in.

I know, i was just saying that if you want to keep a player say three years, you need a longer contract in reality.

Just think what an England call up would do for him!

Kirmo is fast becoming some sort of Wakefield living legend, the 80 metre chase after the FC guy was immense !

| Long contracts these days are purely about adding value to that player should another club come knocking - that's fine by me and I guess that every player has a value at which the BoD are duty bound to consider a sale; again, that's fine by me.
I'm with vasty on this one - anything longer than 3 years is a big risk for any club, let alone one that teeters around the edges of a cashflow crisis on a regular basis; personally, I wouldn't go with anything longer than 3 years for any player, regardless of quality. What I would do however, is get the players I wanted to retain signed up nice and early, well before their current deal expires and well before the imminent expiry of their current deal makes them open to offers.
As for Captain Kirmo - I'd sit down with him and renegotiate a new 3 year deal, starting now; it would be great if he lead us into the new stadium.
