| Quote vastman="vastman"If you read what Brian Smith said in his interview today was a success of sorts.
Yep Salford are an average team and todays game reflected that. We can't pretend, we were still poor.
However we did hit the small targets Smith set. Completion was ok, tackling ok and we lasted the full 80 without complete capitulation. We managed to not lose the second half, when did that last happen!
If we continue to improve gradually like this and have a few players return and maybe some new blood we could be in a position to at least compete in the bottom 4 play offs - and at the end of the day that's what we really need and all we can really expect.
Probably the biggest positive was that the rot might not be as deep as we feared.
Thought the much maligned Miller ran his blood to water - I'm afraid the lads not much of a laker but it kind of summed up the general improvement.
So well done Brian don't think anyone else could have done better after 10 days.'" . Well said Bang on the money small improvements across the team good coaching is to set small goals it then move onto the next and that's exactly what brian is doing anyone that's played will tell you confidence is the hardiest thing to build in sport and that is what he's doing Miller did okay playing out of position in difficult circumstances A little bit of time two or three import some players back Will be okay

| A definite improvement today. Some hard tackling and the side played for the full 80minutes. Can't remember when I last saw as many penalties in a game though. Hicks was typical Hicks I'm afraid. A bit disappointed in the amount of "one man rugby" in attack at times. My two biggest disappointments were Tim Smith who will just not go forward and is just passing along the line. Another disappointment was Danny Kirmond who I didn't realise was playing until about 10 minutes from the end. Congratulations to Simon and Kavanagh for some good straight, hard running.

| Kirmond worked his booty off today. I wish we could get him running wide again but when they broke after we dropped the ball near their line he was the one who sprinted from the far side to stop the try. If the others had done the same we'd have stopped the try on the next play too.

| A big improvement more confident now going into the middle 8s than I have been in recent weeks. Good to see them come over to the Northstand at the end.

That's Salford who had half a side out. As for improved line speed, chasing back, tackling and work rate it's a given for a professional player. Nothing to earn extra praise for.

| It's stating the obvious saying we need to replace the players who have left. I'm sure they are working on it to make sure they get the right players in.

Think Salford had a bit more class on the field than Wakefield. Evalds, Chase, Paterson, Fages, Taylor and Hansen (ask Annakin!) wouldn't be out of place in any Super League side. How many of ours would even be wanted by Salford?

| Quote Scarlet Pimpernell="Scarlet Pimpernell"We lost at home to the second worst team in super league who were also on a long losing run. The squad is too small and if we do not recruit to replace those we let go then those that played today both good and bad will be in the squad again next week. We can all look at the positives but this was a game any other season that we would have been disappointed to lose which suggests our levels of expectations this season are so low we will literally accept anything.
With regards replacements the club's situation is so bad that some of you would be happy for us to recruit anybody providing it is a body and they know how to put a Wakefield shirt on. We need good players to replace those that have left not just the cheap alternatives like Howarth.'"
State The blindingly obvious make it totally negative Forget about the positives bag howarth The guys that's done nothing wrong in my opinion. What players would you sign and wherefrom at this stage of the season

| Our tackling was much better but we had to do too much of it due to the same old mistakes, panic plays, cheap penalties and poor last tackle options.
A bit more composure and thought today and it could have been a long awaited win.
Thought Simon was MOM by a mile.

Out of interest, who are the seven players missing from the Salford line-up?
I know Dobson wasn’t available & Tommy Lee (but he’s hardly Cam Smith)
Who else?
