Maybe CC wants him to be more than a bit player and even that small bit of extra responsibility can affect players in different ways.

Maybe stick to using him off the bench with Fifita, with Keegan doing the unspectacular stuff.

We looked a lot more effective when England and Huby started and as already been said, Fifita is an impact player and better used off the bench.

And on the back of my last post, I am not Thickle, If we lost tonight there would of been a dozen posters on here jumping on all of the negatives. There is no doubt Keegan drops the ball but he is an offloading prop. It's no good saying he doesn't run to his size when that isn't what Chester is expecting of him.

He draws players in and offload. That means he carries more loosely meaning he sometimes drops it.

I want him to improve that side of his game but I don't want him to be a battering ram to do it.

Homme vast is correct. Keegan does lose possession too frequently and he is not sl standard IMO. And that part has not improved in one and a half seasons.

Keegan started this season really well and was one of the best props for a couple of games but he has gone off the boil a bit recently. His technique when he runs the ball in is a little strange and his catching technique as well which results in a few errors.

He does I’m afraid watch Trinity TV. It’s not so much the knock ins it’s how many are unforced, seriously it’s dire. Just watch the last game against Cas he dropped two cold and put us totally on the back foot and was quickly withdrawn.



In every other respect I’d say he probably is just about SL standard but not being able to retain the ball is a real issue.



He clearly knows he has an issue because if you watch him he has a very odd way of taking the ball as if he’s going through a process.



I understand why many people want Keegan to succeed for various reasons. However despite being a superb physical specimen he’s spent nearly all his career in the lower leagues and I suspect this is the reason why.

On both counts, especially the first one.

I've looked at the stats. As always you can make them show what you want to show but, on the basis of errors per carry, Hirst makes the same as Ashurst and fewer than England and Pauli Pauli. For comparison, Miller makes more errors per carry than Hirst and BJB makes more than twice as many! Supporters might have their own reasons for being down on Hirst but, "making too many errors" shouldn't be one of them. Personally, I think he adds an extra element when he comes and is one of the few players always looking to create chances with the offload.
