| Quote bren2k="bren2k"Forgot Brass Eye - brilliant stuff, way ahead of its time'"
Being pedantic here I know but Brass Eye along with the Fast show, Harry Enfield etc were sketch shows rather than sitcoms. Both very funny but very different, personally think sitcoms are much harder to get right.
Just to tag this on the end, Inbetweeners BRILLIANT almost single handedly rescues the British sitcom which had been failing badly IMO since the office and League of Gentleman in early the 2000's. So bad had it been of late that the American stuff was much better. I really like Noel Fielding but if the Mighty Boosh was the best we had to offer, god help us - sub standard Python at best.

| Felicity Kendal......
as for american sitcoms, one i have not seen mentioned that i enjoyed was Seinfeld - a show about nothing.
i also enjoyed Married with Children
Porridge and fawlty towers were classic, but like only fools and horses, they have suffered by been on TV every day........

I also loved The Good Life; watched a couple on Sky recently - still funny and Felicity Kendall is still a hottie.'"
'Ooh la di da, look what I found in my washing bag. It's Felicity Kendall's underwear, and it needs a gooood wash!'
Kendall = Filthy
Completely forgot about League, took a couple of watches but it up there with the best for me. Seinfeld also very funny in it's day

| I think Peep Show is brilliant. I also think Brass Eye was so good for its time.

Not like you to be pedantic vasty...
Agreed - I have deviated from the format with Brass Eye, but it was superb stuff; the earnest celebrity appeals for the elephant with it's trunk lodged in its own anus was excrutiatingly brilliant.
Inbetweeners does nothing for me - I watched a couple early on and it felt like sitting in the pub behind a table full of adolescent boys; The Young Ones were my knob-gag comedy heroes, I don't think I'm target audience for this generation's version.
American stuff is less appealing, but I've loved Seinfeld for years - I also have a soft spot for Cheers, cos I used to watch it with my old man.

I guessing you didn't have a middle class upbringing and I don't mean that in a snobbish way. But for someone who spent their teenage years living in a a series of Barratt estates but who's parents couldn't quite run to Quegs or Silcotes it's hilariously and painfully close to reality.

No mate - I was brought up on Lupset; QUEGS was the place we went to beat up posh kids, not a place we aspired to attend.
Here's a guilty pleasure - Miranda; it has a 70's feel about it, in that it's all quite innocent and silly, but for some reason, I find it hilarious. Not very cool or edgy I know, but enjoyable nonetheless.

You didn't have to go to QUEGS to get beat up in Lupset to be fair.
Never seen Miranda, is that the big awkward girl? She make me laugh on chat shows.
