When we signed Sculthorpe I was pleased as I thought a fit and firing Sculthopre would have been a major asset. For whatever reason it never happened. I never felt he was fit enough, he always appeared a yard or so behind the pace of the game.



Players come, players go. he'll get over us and we'll get over him. Just disappointed he has to air his views on the eve of the new season.

Danny let himself down and deep down he knows it. It's a shame that a player who burst onto the scene and had obvious potential has never fulfilled it over a long period.



Personally i'd have thought Danny would be over it and looking forward to a clean slate and a big challenge ahead of himself. His focus should solely be on proving to his team he is a valuable asset and letting his performance do the talking.



I don't see him being a good signing for Bradford, he's injury prone and a liability on the pitch. He needs a strong coach to ensure you get the best out of him. I don't see McNamara being able to handle him, although stranger things have happened.

I think that's a very fair comment. I don't think anyone can honestly claim we play an expansive game in the forwards. We are for the most part attritional, relying on hard yards, a good kicking game, and good defence. It doesn't suit the style of the Sculthorpes of this world in the main. That said, Kear was right to tell him to grow up. He was paid a very good wage and asked to do a job. If it didn't suit him, he could have left at any time during those 3 years, probably on a player exchange basis, and everyone would have been happy. Danny was happy with the coin he was earning, so he should accept he made the decision and button it, instead of making a complete prat of himself with his childish bleating.

very good post. i'm disappointed that my generally positive outlook on his contribution to wakey has been completely trashed by his pathetic childish outbursts, not just now but when it all kicked off. he's got something most other props haven't. at times we just weren't on the same wave length in the same way we weren't for solo. i reiterate what i always said when he was still with us, his driving in was underestimated he was hard to bring down

Interesting, kind of shows him up for a bit of a liar, either now or then doesn't it???

So....



Sculthorpe says he was fined £1800 for drinking 6 bottles of beer - there was/is an alcohol ban and he breached it. Kear clearly will not tollerate people who think they are exempt to the rules. A good move from kear imo. It sends a message that if a player breaks clubs rules he will be punished in the most painful way you can punish a professional sportsman - stop him playing and hit him with a large/proportionate fine!



Sculthorpe then suggests kear has a regimented approach - so, JK likes to assert his authority and keep the dressing room in check. Clearly it is working - we have done nothing but move in a positive direction on the field since kear took charge and i dont see any of the other lads blabbing about it in the media. Maybe its a respect thing. Maybe sculthorpe was the only player who didnt want to give kear the respect he demanded...and why shouldnt a player repsect their coach? kear is the coach for a reason and if you arent in the mood for respecting your boss, maybe youre not right for the team? kear demands respect and why not...?!



For me, sculthorpe has just outlined himself as a shallow and disrespectful individual for all to see. He clearly thinks he is bigger than the club which evidently he isnt, because we got rid and he finds himself with yet another club! journey man !!!!!



We've all heard stories about broughy breaching club disciplin and to the best of my knowledge, he didnt go shouting his mouth off in the media. He realised he'd done wrong and he knuckled down and got on with it. He was in the wrong and he did something about it. Sculthorpe was in the wrong and tried to justify it.
