| He isn't the only one with those kind of views. The 'scrap the cap' argument gets a regular airing on Sky. See this weeks Backchat for details. Amazingly Stevo defended the current set up. Good for him.

| There's no fans to watch these superstars that he wants to bring in. He needs to spend money on somehow getting more people though the gate. I don't think the location of the stadium helps, free (if you have a season ticket) shuttle bus services?

| Noted that Wane at Wigan was saying along the lines that they would not be going for a marquee player if it happened as they would much sooner bring the youngsters on.Cant remember where I read it but that has to be the way to go against paying a player a bucket full of money and the rest of the squad then unhappy and thinking stuff it let him take the hammer.

| Suppose he is just trying to copy us when we signed Wally Lewis.

He would have been quite comfortable wearing a marquee.

| The Dr is never happy - I don't even bother reading his rants any more, as they all amount to the same thing; "Boo hoo, I've got loads of money, so let me do what I want, boo hoo, Nigel Wood is a donkey."
He's shot his bolt for me - concentrate on Salford and stop trying to dictate terms to the rest of us.

I think it was on teletext where i read the statement from Wane. He said some thing along the lines of "we are leagues apart from Salford on the marquee signing thinking" I thought some from Salford would have been on here by now defending the good doctor.

Wanes got the advantage of Wigan being years in front of Salford. Koolca$h wants to bridge the gap as quickly as possible. Wigan have no problems coming over to the Wakefield District and splash the cash to entice the local youngsters.

| This is all about him getting Salford fast-tracked, nothing else.
He has the money, what he doesn't have is the patience to either wait for it happen of for the people "running" the game.
It's not about bringing marquee players to RL, its about bringing marquee signings to Salford.
He knows full well he could afford to assemble the NSW side if he wanted, he also knows that if he waved enough money around many SL chairmen would be happy to give up their "golden ticket" in order for him to do so.
The problem would be that on the back of it, he would then still have to let the greater population in for nowt in order to fill his ground and make it at least appear justified and not just some mahoosive ego trip.
IMO he is a mentile!!

| Completely agree with his sentiments re the RFL. I wouldn’t like the clubs to run the league but the sooner Wood et al are out of the game the better. It needs a complete outsider with fresh ideas and impetus.

| So how are Salford managing to stay under the salary cap then ??????
Brian Carney said on the Superleague show a couple of weeks ago that the money thrown at Kevin Locke to come over was "eye-watering"....(I believe £300,000 was mentioned ?????). Are they still able to pay a player £50 per week and his missus £10,000 per week to "work" in the club shop ????
