If the rumour is true then there could well be good reasons for MC to play it down. There could be agreements between the clubs not to announce it until a certain date. Maybe Rankin has only signed for us if we stay in SL? There could be other criteria.



For Carter to say that he thought Rankin was going back to Australia doesn't mean anything. I'm going to Hull KR this afternoon but it doesn't mean that I'll be staying there more than a few hours. I certainly won't be playing there.



I think Carter's message is simply don't believe anything until the club have officially confirmed it.



Remember the Washbrook back to Hull rumour started months ago in the Hull media and was true. Yet it took a long time before it was confirmed, for reasons unknown to us.

I read on the superleague site in the interview with Kevin Locke that Brain Smith has been helping MC with recruitment for next year, and he thinks that they are building a good squad, but it's dependant on retaining SL status...maybe this is one of those cases?

Not often I agree with you Poptart but on this your spot on. If anything rumours of new signings help to generate excitement and anticipation for the new season which is crucial for any club but especially ours after this dismal season we've had this year. MC really does need to work on his PR skills - instead of shooting everyone down and coming across as rude to the fans, he should either keep silent or release a generic statement like "would prefer not to comment on other clubs players" neither confirming or denying rumours.

I am very grateful for MC saving this great club but he often damages it with his use of twitter although not as badly as koukash damages Salford yet when he is interviewed by the media he comes across really well. If he just thought about what he is putting on twitter and used the media more carefully he would stop upsetting genuine supporters ans start bringing the lost ones back.

Would people be excited and upbeat if MC were to announce a raft of signings for next year, only for us not to retain our SL status, then he would be accused of 'getting our hopes up', for no apparent reason.
