If true as said, it's a sad loss. It has brought back many wonderful memories when I think I saw most games he played in the Trinity shirt. Like others say he stood his ground and was a rock around which the rest of the team could work its magic. He know how to lift a team by example. I once used him and his removal company when I moved house (for me there was no way I was getting anyone else) and I was terrified of him then, never mind thinking about facing him on the field!

A player whose names is synonymous with Wakeys successful years. Great player. Sad loss. RIP

Never saw him play, too young for the glory years unfortunately. My Dad told me he was as hard as nails and never took a backward step, he said he led by example and he led the team superbly. RIP.

Very sad news. Had dealings with Rocky in his business guise, and just like on the field, you didn't argue with him. Great guy. I loved to listen to his anecdotes. RIP Derek!!

Sad news indeed. The words Legend and Great are often mis-used these days, but not when referring to Derek Turner.

I was one of those fortunate kids watching the 60s teams i can honestly say i have not seen a better leader since and i remember him delivering a 3 piece suite to our house and him and his mate were to take a big black sideboard away when they picked it up it was really heavy, he turned to my mam and said " bloody hell misses have you got your old man in hear". a truly great player and will be greatly missed. RIP ROCKY.

I'm lucky enough to talk to the stars of that time a lot and they talk about him being a tough leader who had the respect of all his opponents.
