I think Woodsy was once sent off playing for Wales and got an 8 match ban.

Jim Macklin was one of the toughest blokes in hull if not the toughest in his prime.

Made me chuckle too. I didn't even know he was a Fullback/halfback. I assumed by the way in which people spoke of him that he was a prop!



Charlie Stone seems to get a few mentions as a tough player, never saw him myself.

Love the story that after a couple of ex Union forwards playing for Oldham roughed Knocker up in a cup match, Woodsy allegedly rang Knocker to offer to sort them out as Woodsy's team were playing Oldham the following week.
