I assume 'TJ Coach' is Touch Judge Coach, if so it's a new one on me. Tony Brown appears to be the only one appointed to this position because he was also at Salford on Friday night and will be at Wakey today.
I can't recall any announcement of what appears to be a new appointment and certainly no explanation of what his function is. Yet another example of the lack of transparency in all things related to Cummings'"
There area number of touch judge coaches who work at different grades. They are largely unpaid, heading off to watch games each weekend and providing assessments back to the touch judge lead for each grade. Tony Brown works with the Super League group, but there are others who work below that level. Eg Steve Wright assesses a number of grade 2 officials who are officiating championship and championship 1. Their appointments are always on the rfl website. I had a tj coach at the game I officiated in the championship last weekend.
