The same Gelling that is from the Cook Islands and that you signed in December, after he had previously played for Sydney Roosters and been sacked by them? Interesting to hear that he came through your academy......

| To be honest we as a club have suffered from below par perfomances for far too long and we now have a an owner that shares the same desire for success as the fans.
He has come in and taken the club by the scruff of the neck and made the decisions for the good of the club (his investment). We have all been crying out for someone to have the metal to take the strong & neccessary action needed form the top and bottom on all aspects at the club. AP has done this and has decided enough is enough and this season is going to be the last of mediocrity at this club.
If AP & Gentle had waited until the end of the season to make the changes we would more than likely have a another transistional season next where as by doing it now this will be cut to a minimal. It also seems as though the players have been given plenty of time to grasp the opportunity and be part of what AP & Gentle want to build so those that haven't are going to be replaced.
People have been banging on about needing no sentimentality in sport to be successful and AP has shown he means business.
Maybe he could have gone about it differently but he is not wrong with his summing up etc.
I am quite excited about the next few years (more so than I can remember for a long while) after seeing AP and his conviction to bring success and continued success to this club built on sound foundations.

| Much of what AP had to say on Friday got me more excited than some of the games I've been to this season.
However I'm not happy about him publicly criticising individual players and can't see that any good will come of it. It could will demoralise them and unsettle others when there is still a lot of rugby to be played this season.
I guess we will see tonight how the team reacts, but I'm not sure whether it will be good or bad.

| Think people need to realise that it's unlikely that the players didn't already know both Pearson's and Gentle's opinion already and the players concerned will already know they don't have a future at the club.
And come on lets be honest the team has been playing bad enough no matter what anyone at the club says, just because Pearson and Gentle have told the truth I doubt we are suddenly get worse than we have been,
Who know's maybe the players might wanna prove them wrong,
And it's not like people on here haven't already expresses the same opinion about the players.
Personally think it makes a refreshing change having an owner who tells it like it is,

So do you think that there's no difference between your boss telling you in private that you're not doing your job well enough and your boss telling everyone that you're not doing your job well enough? Imagine it was you in whatever your line of work is.

Yes, but I doubt the players come on here.

As my employer they have the right to criticise my performance both privately and publicly, especially if it's part of a process of telling their customers that they're not happy with whats being delivered and are making efforts to address the situation.'"

I think you'd be amazed.
To be honest, if full time professional sports people can't take public criticism from the owner of their club then they really should pack in being a professional sportsperson.

It may have a bad reaction or may have a good reaction, that we will only see on the field.
However I applaud Pearson's comments, for far too long we have being a club who has accepted Mediocre and Pearson is simply stating that no matter who you are, if you don't perform you will be replaced. We are not going to win SL this anyway so if his comments upset this squad (which is likely to be broken up in three months time) then so be it.
Mediocre is no longer acceptable and I think that is a good message to send out there.

| Pearson said he will invest in the club from top to bottom until a successful team is on the pitch and only then can he start to think about profits, thats what a fan of any professional team in any sport all over the world should be more than happy to hear.

All valid points but there is a lot to play for this season yet. Let's not write it off now in the hope that everything will be better next season.
If Ap's comments motivate the players then all well and good but what if they have the opposite effect?
TBH if we lose tonight its hard to see where our next win is coming from. We will be looking at an 8th place finish at best IMO. If its effectively "season over" what effect will that have on the walk up spectators? Won't they decide to keep their money in their pockets and wait until next season before returning? I'm sure AP doesn't want that. However if we can win tonight it will give everyone a real boost and we can finish well, possibly ending up 6th.
