Quote Knockerandy="Knockerandy"Don't post much but having watched Leeds Rhinos take Wigan apart today, one thing I do know is the Leeds squad have no big salary players, they are all well paid but all play for each other not for the salary...big mistake at Hull FC to get Ellis on big salary, that was the turning point of our season'"
As a matter of interest, how much is Ellis going to be on next year?
Do you really think Leeds players only play well "for each other" rather than earning a crust to pay bills? If you really think there are no big earners at leeds you are wrong.
Hulls main problem, apart from over exaggerating fans, is there has been an acceptance of rank ordinariness for years. Unfortunately some players are so ingrained into the first team that their culture of ordinariness (attitude, ego, arrogance) ends up rubbing off on new recruits.
Take Mark O'Meley as an example. At the back end of last season and for much of this year his attitude has been poor (allegedly ). Now why would a player of his stature and experience develop such an attitude? Perhaps because he see's those who have been here for years thinking they are gods
gift when in reality their careers have been in the slow lane for years.
I think it's agreed that Rich Horne is not effective as a half. I think there needs to be a realisation that they likes of Yeaman are not good enough (and haven't been for a number of years) for the club to progress. I find it hard to understand just why the club paid a fee for Westerman.
To blame Gentle is short sighted in my opinion, he is working with a group of players as a collective which has a poor attitude. Until he can weed out this issue we are not going to compete.
Oh, finally, we must be the slowest SL team. Not just for the pace of our players, but at the ptb.
Unfortunately to sort out these issues it takes years rather than months.
