So since Horne debuted in 1998, we have had around 10 players come through and make SL players, I'd say that is shocking.

| Great interview . Honest as per usual, looking at 5 half backs, 2 back rowers and 3 wingers .
Think AP is starting to dislike our little neighbours as much as us

Agree great interview, I challenge anyone to watch that and see AP isn't the man to take us forward, at first he wanted to come in and make big changes and get us challenging straight away, but now he is taking the Wigan/Leeds approach looking long term. Watching that makes me want to get a pas next season.
Also it's two props no backrowers and it sounded like Taylor is almost done, just the fee for Wigan to sort out I would guess.

10 mentioned by Cuckoo (11 if you include Horne)
I got 5 and paintman pointed out a 6th for players who are still playing SL now
so thats 17 players meaning an average of 1 a year since Horne debuted who are SL players
obviously we've brought more through since Pearson took over (Cuckoo's point) and look like bringing more through like BTW. Some players just aren't at SL level, the likes of Tommy Saxton, Antonty Thackery, Danny Nicklas, Liam Kent are examples of potentially good players but can't quite make it,

| In regards to youth...
The Agar era saw next to zero youth come through. He debuted roughly 6 players, and Reece Lyne played the most (12 games in 2 years). In fact, I think he played more than the rest combined (I started a thread about this a few years ago).
Gentle had debuted more players in one season than Agar in 4.
Sharpe also debuted a lot of youth in his time. The 2006 GF runner up side featured 13 British players, 9 being Hull produced IIRC. That's where I'd like to see us. That's the only way we'll compete with the big boys. You can't buy a squad. You have to produce most of it due to the cap. Young players are cheaper.
Youth development takes 10 years to get right. There are hopefully a few coming through the system that have natural talent, but if we want developed talent in numbers, give it longer than 3 seasons!

Basically that AP made a mistake signing him & regrets not sacking him sooner. If you get chance there's a link to the video on page 2 of this thread.

As said above if you have a spare 20 mins watch it, very good honest and open interview.
Mentions that gentle was a good assistant, but not what it takes to be a head coach.

I remember thinking in 2005 and 2006 that the club was heading in the right direction with it's solid core of local players and seemingly more on the way. It all went a bit wrong didn't it! As horrified as I've been at some of the losses this season at least I have the feeling again that we might be on the right track.
