First Ben Favies and now Sean Briscoe, in fairness, neither comes as a surprise but what might the reason be?

It could be just to reduce costs or could it be to bring someone in for a playoff push?

Could be because Davies isn't up to it; and rightly or wrongly Briscoe can't get a game being behind Hanbury and probably Owens in the pecking order.



So why keep them.

Briscoe simply wants to play so has asked for a release which widnes have agreed. Same with Ben Davies, no dramas really as we have sufficient cover in both positions. I feel sorry for both but that's life.

Briscoe had signed for Workington until the end of the season which is quite a coup for them really, could do a job in SL still. Unfortunately we have Hanbury starter and still spots to get Craven and Owens in to.

Shame about Briscoe, always think we look better defensively when he's playing.

Briscoe is definitely better than hanbury in that position but betts obviously likes a rapid fb who can chime in at 2nd&3rd receiver,sadly which briscoe isnt

I agree. But Hanbury is the future. Briscoe is still a fine full back who will play well at a lower lever for 3 or so seasons.

Whilst I would have played Briscoe a bit more often. If DB has decided that he cant play him he might as well be released. I dont know whether that means we have paid his contract up or reached some sort of deal. It will be interesting to see if we try to bring anyone in before the end of the season.

I wasn't questioning the decision to release them, I've no issue with it at all. Was just wondering if this would be just cost saving or if people thought we might get someone else in!

Cost saving? Can't see us signing anyone else this season.

Betts/Cassidy no longer speak to Briscoe, not so long ago he was your 'star signing'.....a bizarre situation don't you think
