| I was in New Zealand in 2010 ,we were on a trip and the guy running it was called paul a big local lad, after a while he came over looked at my polo shirt and said "hull kingston rovers " i was with an fc fan so with a bit of banter i said "by far the best team in hull" he looked bemused ,i said "hes an hull fc fan "pointing out the lad with me ,still he looked bemused "hull fc " i said again ,he class reply was "oh yes hull city i dont like footbal im a rugby man"  |

I have had similar experiences several times.
We are known globally as a rugby team , but if you mention Hull fc people are either bemused , or think it is the football team. |

There was an episode of Pointless a year or so ago in which a hundred people were asked to name as many Super League clubs as they could.
Hull FC came about sixth in terms of how many people said it, Rovers about 9th. Possibly some people just said Hull and that was counted as Hull FC, I don't know.
If the Hull Kingston Rovers "brand" is more well known then so be it. It's only because of the unsual name and not because of sporting success.
Anyway, lets face it RL in general has far less profile nationally than twenty years ago.
