| Quote Mild Rover="Mild Rover"Did anybody watch the BBC's The City and the City recently? I read the book a few years ago, which I recommend, and watched the first episode on iPlayer last week, which was pretty good if a bit reliant on voiceover narration.
It's a police procedural set in two cities that largely co-exist in the same space. For people living in either of the the two cities to be able to cope with this complex situation, they have to able to 'unsee' the other city, pretending that its sights and sounds are invisible/inaudible to them, until eventually they sort of are.
Interesting concept and an allegory for our times, perhaps.'"
Aye, watched it. Spent three hours being vaguely confused and was none the wiser at the end of it really, although, to be fair, that's a pretty standard interaction with anything for me.
I like that bloke though, what's his face, authoritative voice, used to be in The Smith's.

Quote craig hkr="craig hkr"It does seem negative things are conveniently forgotten in FC fans world? They can cast opinions on all things Rovers yet when it's returned the stock answer is "bitter/jealous". An enlightening conversation I had on Thursday whilst watching Leeds game I was told "Minns deserved 6 years the red n white swine" then same guy ranting about Milton Keynes Dons looking like relegated and how glad he was after what they did to Wimbledon.I pointed out the irony but was told it was ok for FC to do it. I actually think a lot of the FC fans on here are fairly balanced but the couple of decent season has brought out the armchair fans who don't know the history of either club?'"

I watched it. Mildly interesting first couple of episodes but the ending was utter gash although that could be down to adapting the story for TV. I read one of his other books and it was so weird I doubt you could ever make in into comprehensible TV or film
But yeah I do try and go around not seeing the small number of rovers fans who I come across

| He's / she's a <MODERATED: idiot?>, in my not at all humble opinion but I'll always defend his / her right to say what she / he wants as long as they're prepared to be challenged.
Which they seem to be.

| I was on about The Reason, not Johnny Marr, for clarity, although I was tempted to leave the confusion from Jake The Peg's post out there as it read in an extremely amusing fashion in how it rolls.

No one would have believed you were referring to marr as a bell end. His former band mate on the other hand.......

It’s obvious they’ve made at least one significant change to the plot, which I wasn’t optimistic about.

I can still listen to the Smiths but I can’t, even in the privacy of my own home, swing imaginary gladioli around now. Just can’t do it.
