He signs for us and it turns out his career had 'stalled'.



The tone of the Hull FC coverage in the Mail has been flowery and ott positive for a while. From those stories about the burning ambition of a relaxed and confident AP, through Jacob Miller's moment of ecstasy and soap opera good looks, to today's story about Andy Last with 'ideas swirling', a 'call to arms' and liberal use of the word 'pride' coming from the author's pen rather than the subject's mouth, as direct quotes. 'Nauseating', I've seen it called on the Hull board.



Mike Smith's coverage yesterday was more, he thinks this, he says this, with no reinforcement from the journalist. Which is fine, I prefer understated. It's just when the two styles bump up against each other, like with these international call-ups or the J. Walker signing that we maybe arch an eyebrow.
