I can’t remember Matt Smith, James Peacock, Eorl Crabtree, Danny Brough, or Danny McGuire saying Welham shouldn’t have been sent to Gateshead but I do remember them saying what a good player Kris Keating is. Quite a number of pundits who have played the game have the same opinion on him.

1 players aren't going to slag other players off and 2 just because players have played the game doesn't mean there knowledgeable about it I'm prepared to give Keating the benefit of the doubt this season but there's no getting away from the fact he's been poor and his kicking has been terrible

The consumate pro's you name would never say in an interview "oh yeah their 7 was garbage today" so that doesnt convince me at all. To your second point I have heard a few pundits say Keating is pretty bang average, apparently Humberside this weekend said Rovers could get any 17 year old from Longhill to do what he has done today, I am paraphrasing as i didnt listen to their commentary my better half text me what they said. I just dont think he is any better than Craig Hall or Matty Beharrel and im guessing theyre on a fraction of his wage, for what its worth I think he could be a decent hooker so im not rubbishing the guy I just think he is a very poor scrum half.

I agree the players you mention would not say that in an after match interview. The players I quoted made their comments about Keating whilst appearing as guests on The Super League show etc and talking about matches they weren’t involved in. The comment on Humberside was made by Lee Richardson who very rarely has anything positive to say about Rovers.

While it's pretty hard to defend Keatings performances so far, I lost count of the times today he was running along our line offering the ball up but there were no runners making themselves available for him. same thing happened to Burns too, but the difference is he then tries to make something happen himself, where Keating doesn't have that spark, but the missing runners need to take some of the blame for his poor showing.
