| This league is stupidly close at the top going into this mini break. Keighley in sixth are only four points off Halifax in third, but have a game in hand which could see them jump to second if it was played tomorrow, although it hasn't been scheduled yet. Leigh also have that game in hand, and could go top if they won it! Our next league game is absolutely huge, if we win it would really set that cat amongst the pigeons and make people sit up and take note, maybe have a few people believing we can win the competition. If we lose then Leigh snatch a chunk of initiative from us and leapfrog us in the table, still with that all important game in hand. All that and I haven't even mentioned Halifax, Featherstone and Batley who will all think they can win it too, especially the 'big two' who currently occupy the first and second spots.
I think team selection this weekend will be very interesting ahead of our most important game of the season so far.

| I think most people - impartiality apart - would have predicted the top 6 would be more or less who thery are now.
Just a thought..... 14 Superleague + 6 = 20. That divides into 2 nice groups of 10

And the existing clubs see their TV money cut by 30%.
Turkeys, Christmas and voting spring to mind.
I thought Dewsbury would be the team to drift out of the top seven. I think it'll be a great season and there'll be a few away wins in the play-offs.
Would it be great if the sixth placed club won it - from the bottom half of the table, having lost more games than they won in the regular season?

Seriously, we go too far down the league with the play-offs. It rewards mediocrity.
Bet we match up with $uperleague's 8 team play-off next year.

| You can't accuse the playoff system of rewarding mediocrity then support the failure point system.

| That would be fair comment if that was the effect.
But losers are still two points behind winners.
2-1-0, 3-2-1, 10-8-6, 80-42-4, 2,000,000-1,999,995-1,999,990 - none of these points systems alter the positions between the teams.
The real losers are the teams who lose by more than 12.
Sorry if the maths is beyond you.
Would you be happier if we keept 2-1-0 with a point deducted if you lose by more than 12 ?

| No, I'd be happier if we stuck with 2-1-0 full stop.
No points for losing. If it's not broke don't fix it.
And no situation where a team starts kicking drop goals when they're within 12 points ala Barrow at DVS.
Laughing stock.

| Favours cr@p performances, though, compared with the current system.

| I disagree, if we were to lose to the Yorks and Hunslets of this world (no disrespect) by 12 points, it would make me sick to think we got some kind of reward for it.

| Surely the points difference is the reward at the end of the season if you finish on the same points as someone you are above them as your scoring or defence has been better. Why have a bonus point,The reason to lose by less is that your points difference is going to be better.
