What - if anything do members of the forum think would be acceptable ways of taking the club forward in a sustainable way?
Assuming some of the management either read or contribute to the forum what do we think about:
1) The price of next season's (hope not tempting fate) tickets?
2) Emergency pledge of the season No 2, would you even contemplate making a further blind contibution, and if not what level of information would you think necessary to persuade you to contribute?
3) The opportunity to invest?
4) Is the club more important than the venue it plays at?
5) How do you persuade an extra 5000 to come through the gates for each game?
6) Which players should we endeavour to keep to build the future team around?
I think the majority of posters - though not always agreeing - only want to see the club survive and prosper'"
1) I think the price of tickets is clearly going to rise - probably steeply. Difficult one for the board, whoever is in charge, as attendances will obviously be affected by the rising prices.
2 & 3) Think these should be one and the same, to be honest and for me the answer is I most probably would, though I accept that many won't be in the position, or willing, to do so. It would also be helped if some sort of better example was being set by those in charge. The stupid child in a pram with a rattle stuff we're getting right now must end pronto, imo.
4) No brainer. No need to answer. Except that as things stand if we move away from Odsal our debts will increase substantially, not to mention that a move to VP would likely mean us paying the same as City, and they continually complain about how much it costs. Many seem to think the landlord would simply allow both clubs to split City's current rent, but why would they do that if they didn't have to?
5) Not a clue. We would need another Peter Deakin and they don't grow on trees, unfortunately. Will we be in the position of having the money to pay a marketing guru anyway. Or maybe we simply can't afford not to? Peter's template will still be around somewhere anyway...though I'm not convinced you can just do the same thing again, though much of it was aimed at kids and there are always a new lot of kids around so maybe this could be the exception which proves the rule?
6) Short answer is all of them, I guess. Truth is, most likely it won't be our decision. ATEOTD you can only get a fee for players wanted by another club and that will be their decision not ours. Beggars can't be choosers, if we need the cash urgently enough and there is no other way of sourcing it, off they will go.
