The Bull's are to provide a free season ticket to any players aged 16 or under who are registered with an amateur club in the Bradford and Keighley area.
www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/s ... nitiative/
I suggested a similar idea on this board around 18 months ago, even contacting Mick Hogan for his thought's.
We have an ageing support and although we've just broken the 10,000 barrier, a scheme like this would greatly benefit us in the longterm.

| How many amateurs players from the Keighley/ Bradford area would come and watch wigan though?
Good idea though i'd give the freebies to under 16s, or under 12s and discount tickets for a parent/coach

| While this kind of thing will only benefit the game. In Wigan if we offered a free season ticket to every player under 16 we'd have a huge amount. But as I understand it, there are rules against having over a certain number of season ticket holders so it then gives others a chance so to speak....I think we give a lot of tickets to youngsters and get a lot of extra supporters in, the Harlequins game being a prime example.
I think if we had the kids games at half time again and maybe add an extra bonus for the kids to make it special such as the winning captain from the half time game gets to present the Man of the match award to one of our players in the SS bar.

Better for them than watching any of the Yorkshire clubs.

| Surely Bradford are hoping to make money off their increased crowds by selling them food and drink on the ground.
This is an avenue that is not open to us.

If you're a young lad living in Bradford and you're into rugby league, wouldn't you already probably be going to loads of Bradford games? I think it's more likely they are giving season tickets to kids who would otherwise have had them bought for them, thus losing revenue. Don't get me wrong I'd be over the moon if I was getting a free season ticket and it's good to see Bradford reaching out to youngsters but I'm not sure it's that clever economically speaking. I like the scheme we run with the scrum vouchers (bring 5 mates to any home game against Saints for £6 each), far more likely to bring in fans who wouldn't have come otherwise IMO.

| Wigan don't need to do anything like this as proven by the recent sales figures.
The next key challenge for the chairman has to be to make the club profitable. With this in mind, why give away tickets for free when sales are miles ahead of previous years anyway?

Fully agree. The club must look for ways to increase attendances, this has already started with hopefully 11k+ season tickets sold by the time the season kicks off. Obviously winning rugby and trophies will go a long way to that, but NOW is the time for the club to continue bringing the sport to a younger audience within the borough.

I thought challenge 10,000 was if they could get 10.000 to sign up for season tickets they would get them at £50
