Did anyone else watch Spartacus "Gods of the Arena" on Sky 1 the other night?



If so, did you notice the sponsors catch phrase..

In the Wakefield version of the movie we all simultaneously stand up and point at Ted and say "He's Spartacus".

no, we don't want to do that. Spartacus triumphs and overthrows the powers that be so to speak.

We need to stand up and point at Ted and shout "oi, get off my land"

Well strictly speaking Spartacus lead an uprising that although inspirational to many as the slaves he lead tasted more freedom than they would have done before the uprising, it still ended with all his army being slaughtered, most on the battlefield but the last 6000 or so crucified. The Romans certainly lasted about another 500 years after that and slavery continued for another couple of centuries.



But I take your point. Don't think Ted can be seen as an inspirational leader.

I posted exactly the same thing on the tv ad thread last night; I reckon we should contact the manufacturers of that game (Square Enix) and make a cheeky offer for some partnership work - they've already aligned themselves with Spartacus, and it doesn't get much more gladiatorial than RL, so not a bad fit. Get a few players dressed up, release some lions, kill a few Christians - bob's your marketing manager!

Couldn't have put it better myself, but for the purpose of ease I was putting it simply and to clarify your final point, it was more about Ted not being a great leader

Although very much doubt that they would eb interested in linking with us ( stranger things have happened though ) One for the marketing department as you say though.
