indeed we do, but it doesn't mean the terms are anything other than imports courtesy of Sky, the game isn't any better off because of the idiotic terminology.

We were told to make sure the tackled player ended on his back 20 years ago when I started playing. I guess that is the same as "winning the wrestle". The difference is a lot of coaches now like to use these terms to make them sound like they've graduated from the Harvard School of RL Coaching..........ps, is "winning the collision" the same as "fooking hit him"???

Indeed, the game is no more technical now than it ever was, it's just pretentious language used to try and make people look "informed", the players are fitter, but so they should be given that they earn £40k+ a year and they don't have to do another job at the same time.

Those phrases are not made up by Sky, a lot come from the NRL and we use them or the odd coach comes up with another word and phrase and it catches on.

I should have said "imported", my apologies, but you know what I am getting at, it's all recent langauge that adds nothing to the game.

I quite like it, good to have new phrases etc, the game has to evolve and not stand still.

That's fair enough, you are entitled to your opinion, to me is just sounds like people grasping at some straws trying to give the impression they know more about the game, when in fact they know about the same as everyone else.

I see your point but don't agree, if you say island or pitch, changing rooms or sheds, halfbacks or pivots it all means the same thing.

They arent in the same league as Hanley,Edwards,Gregory and a player who was very under-rated in Tony Myler...as for Eastmond...he can clear off.

Indeed, they were true legends of the game, Eastmond would struggle to think at half the speed Edwards did, just a shame the demon drink got hold of him when he was coaching.

Think you named the wrong half back there regards the drink!
