Gutted about TKL as gives 100% when was fit.Unfortunanetly i think this is the last season for him, at Widnes.Maybe with his experience he can coach a few youngsters?Anyway TKL is a star, and hope for a good recovery.

There is no double standard here. I have always been highly praising of Gene. I think he was a great signing for you. I've poked fun at his age but with respect to his abilities. If people were poking fun at Toa's indiscipline or his age then I wouldn't have an issue. He just seems to be the go to guy for rival fans to pick holes in our squad against and it isn't given with respect. People holding him up as some weak link is just something I don't understand. Why? He may not be the player he once was but he is not the disaster people make him out to be. As far as I can tell, the general consensus with Widnes fans is that he is a good player. You're not going to embarrass us by bringing his name up every time you want to bring shame on us. And in a thread where his career may well be over, it might not be a good time to rip into him on this board.



It's one of those stock insults people turn to. Like when Super League fans say "Enjoy Batley" or some place else when they want to remind us where we are. Well...we will. Batley is a good club.

I think that's the problem there. His reputation goes before him - much like Robbie Paul who also gets plenty of stick.

Indeed, but as I'm bound to point out here, when he was "the player he once was" he was at the upper echelons of try scorers in super league, now he is an oft subsituted mid table championship team player, he fits in quite well. Same with Paul, an ex international, same with Gene.

If any of these players were what they once was they wouldn't be playing for who they are now.
